Beautiful silver hemidrachm from Tabaristan, struck during the late Sasanian/ Early Islmaic period. These fascinating coins blend ancient Persian imagery with Arabic inscriptions, creating one of the most collectible transitional coin types of the era.
Obverse features the stylized crowned ruler portrait typical of Sasanian-derived coinage, while the reverse displays the traditional fire altar with attendants motif. Excellent detail remaining on both sides with attractive silver surfaces and strong strike for the type.
A highly collectible piece of early medieval Islamic silver and an outstanding example of the transition from Sasanian Persia into the Islamic caliphate period.
