Large Byzantine bronze follis struck during the reign of Emperor Heraclius alongside his son, Heraclius Constantine, dating to 610–641 AD. This substantial 34mm bronze issue represents the turbulent Byzantine period during the wars against the Sassanian Empire and the early rise of the Islamic Caliphate.
The coin features the classic large “M” denomination mark on the reverse, indicating a follis denomination valued at 40 nummi. These oversized Byzantine bronzes are highly collectible for their historical importance, bold fabric, and distinctive imperial designs.
